Iceland: "Söngvakeppnin" final on 20th of February 2016!


RUV, Icelandic broadcaster, announced today the details for their national selection. The national selection "Söngvakeppnins" will have two Semi-Finals followed by the national final on 20th of Feburary 2016.

In each Semi-Final six acts will perform to get one of three tickets to the final. All songs must be performed in Icelandic. In total seven acts (one of them will be a "Wildcard" chosen by a jury) will fight for the ticket to Stockholm in the national final on 20th of February 2016. In the final the contestants can chose in which language they will perform in Stockholm, in the case they win the Icelandic national selection. Read the complete rules for "Söngvakeppnin 2016" here.

Maria Olafs represented Iceland at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest this year in Vienna with the song "Unbroken", but she faidl to qualiy to the Eurovision final. Tomorrow she will release her brand new single. In the meantime watch again her Eurovision entry..

"Söngvakeppnin 2016" - Show dates:
  • 06.02.2016 - Semi-Final 1
  • 13.02.2016 - Semi-Final 2
  • 20.02.2016 - National Final

The winner of "Söngvakeppnin 2016" will compete in one of the Semi-Finals on 10th or 12th of May 2016 in the Globen Arena in Stockholm. Who do you want to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016?
